Baby Ailbe Elaine was born Friday November 5, 2010 at 759am. Johnathan and I woke up very early in the morning. We couldn't sleep from a mixture of our nerves and excitement. We arrived at the hospital at 545 to check in. Once we checked in we headed up to L&D. It was very exciting and at the same time very scary. We were both very quiet as the nurses told us to head to room 1. Once in the labor room my sis Elaine walked in and helped lighten the mood with her laughter. Johnathan, Elaine and I did a lot of laughing during that time. It was good to relax a little. The doctors came in and explained what would happen with my Csection and explained when they would start. I was taken into surgery at 730 to deliver baby Ailbe and by 759 she was born. Ailbe Elaine Murphy was born 9lbs 21inches (she was measured one week later at 23 so we were pretty certain they didn't stretch her out to measure her in the hospital lol). She is such a precious gem. One thing I really remember from delivery was when they pulled her out how excited her daddy looked and how happy we both felt. Auntie E cut the umbilical cord because Daddy is too squeamish lol. It was a great day! All grandparents and Auntie E and Uncle Jeremy were present.

Yesterday Elaine decided to play photographer and capture the wonderful baby belly that I am sporting. We had so much fun. I laughed so hard I started crying when she was putting the baby blocks on my belly. I couldn't stop laughing and Elaine kept saying if I didn't we wouldn't get the picture, then she'd say "don't move" and I break into hysterics again! She's the funniest sister and and even funnier photographer. I am sure little miss Ailbe will just love her crazy Auntie.
We took the pictures in the wildwood brush and had a lot of fun dodging one curious coyote onlooker, a few tree branches and many of natures little creatures.
It was a fun day and the best part was we got adorable pictures without breaking the bank :)
Thanks Elaine!

Baby Shower
We had such a wonderful time last weekend at our baby shower! We had quite the Mad Hatter tea party with our Alice in Wonderland theme. It was so lovely to see all of my family members and close friends there. We really had a great time and besides the heat everything cooperated including my energy (which was soon zapped from me after the shower). We had the most beautiful cakes made for us by Cynthia and Rikki, yummy little tea treats that my mum made from scratch with the help of her two little elves Auntie Ann and Auntie Liz, refreshing beverages courtesy of Elaine, great music and lots of happy company. Everyone was asked to wear cute hats and they all really got into it. My friend from work Julie won the hat contest as her leaning tower of diapers was just too cute to not win, but future grandmamoo (Johnathan's mom) really made a beautiful hat that said Grandma to BEE on it referring to our little Ailbe that will be joining us soon.
We had such a great time, seeing everyone, watching the games, and enjoying the company. We really were so overwhelmed by the generosity everyone showed towards the baby with all the lovely gifts and treats! We feel very blessed to have such caring, loving friends in our lives.
A big thank you to my mum Angela, my mil Melinda and my big sister Elaine. Thank you for a beautiful shower you all really out did yourselves!!! xoxo

10 weeks to go
This morning I woke up and realized that 10 weeks (maybe a little before a little after) from now we will get to meet our little daughter. I can't express how excited I feel right now and how wonderful I know this change in our lives will be. I asked Johnathan what he was most excited about and he told me he was excited to feed Ailbe a little mashed potato at Thanksgiving. Although we are all aware that he can't do that, I still thought it was super sweet and a total "Johnathan" thing to say. Last night I asked my mum what she was most excited for and she just started to cry. It was sad and sweet at the same time as she told me she was just overwhelmed with joy but that it seemed like I was just in diapers yesterday (um I'm 28 lol)... but I do understand what she is saying. She went on to say she was just excited to meet little Ailbe. I think I will continue to ask family members what they look forward to and make sure to keep note of it for Ailbe to look back and read about when she is able to. Myself, I am most excited to meet her and to see who she looks like and shares the personality of. I know she will be completely independent but I am so curious to see if it's a little Johnathan, Allison or what combination of looks that she has. Sound funny?
We have another scan on Tuesday (so updated pictures to come) and our shower is coming up in two weeks and we are so excited to celebrate with our family and close friends! The weeks are flying by and I just wanted to share my excitement with everyone!

Pregnancy Class
On Thursday (our four year anniversary) we started our pregnancy courses. Let's just say Johnathan isn't the best student. Snacks were provided for pregnant women and Johnathan had no trouble sitting eating all of them!!!! I leaned over and told him to remember I was going to be in labor and he would be in charge of remembering all these details and with his mouth full of Oreo cookies he mumbled mmmhmmm.
After two hours of learning about labor without pain relief it was time to learn how to breath and help massage your pregnant wife into a comfy position. Lets just say that Johnathan can't sit "criss cross apple sauce" very well so he was awkward to begin with. Once he (not the pregnant one) eventually got on the floor it was all laughs and giggles from there. For some reason I/we couldn't take it seriously. I mean ten couples were all laying on the floor massaging away and Johnathan and I were sitting there giggling. I think it started with the ear rub lol!!! It was just too much to take seriously. I have no problem getting a massage one on one but, with twenty strangers in the room taking it so seriously it was a little laughable for me.
Anyway needless to say I tried to memorize everything being the studious teacher and Johnathan well lets just say I think he knows where to find the snacks on the maternity ward.
Too funny and never a dull moment!

Registering and baby stuff
I've decided that there really should be a crash course in what baby products a soon to be new mother needs to have. Websites like Babys R Us are just too much for the new eye. There are soooooo many things to look at and choose and I really have no idea what I need or will need, besides the basics... If anyone has any advice on "must haves" or essentials I'd be so happy to listen.

Girl or Boy
It's official Johnathan and I will be welcoming a little baby girl into our family on November 14th. Ailbe Elaine Murphy will join the family and we are all sooooooo excited to meet her and learn more about her.
Ailbe (Al-bee) is an old Irish name which means white, or fair and Elaine (named after auntie Elaine my sis) means bright shining light. So Ailbe Elaine will mean white shining light, which we think is just beautiful for our little girl. St. Ailbe was one of four patron saints in Ireland and is a common unisex name spelled numerous ways in Ireland. We absolutely adore the name as does the whole family. I know she won't have to worry about there being another little Ailbe in Kindergarten lol.
Can't wait to meet her...20 weeks to go!!!!
Go team pink!!!

Anatomy Scan
So on June 23rd we are going to have our anatomy scan done. At the scan we are going to learn our baby's gender. I don't know what it is but I'm so nervous to learn if it's a boy or a girl. Why am I so nervous? Maybe I'm not nervous, maybe it's all excitement. Being pregnant is a whole new ball game for me and it comes with a whole new set of feelings and experiences. I'll post the scan pic to let everyone know the results. Can't wait to find out!!!!

Telling the Grandma's to be ;-)
Check out our mom's reactions to hearing they will be grandmothers. My mum who's usually outgoing was the quiet reserved one and Melinda (Johnathan's mom) who's usually super quiet is the one screaming!!!! Priceless moment- we got them the same Brighton id bracelet and asked them to open it at the same time, the bracelets says Grandmother on them ;-) Took my mum a while to notice what it said lol....see if you can hear Elaine in the background complaining about having to come outside haha and Mr. Murphy (Johnathan's dad) has no clue what's going on...just too funny!!!
Baby Murphy Coming Fall 2010
We are super excited to announce that we are expecting a little baby Fall 2010. We are more than thrilled to take this next step in our relationship and can't wait to share with everyone. We will be having our anatomy ultra sound June 23 so we will let everyone know the gender after that date! Again we are soooooo excited and just can't wait for our new family addition.

Hi Everyone-
Welcome to my new blog. Over the next year I've decided to create a blog for family and friends to stay connected with the Murphy's. Hopefully I get the hang of this and will improve as time goes on.
